Tufto inks with Quinnipiac

From Scott Zurevinski to  Connor and Kellen Jones and – just last season – Thomas Aldworth and Luke Shiplo, the connection between the Vernon Vipers and Quinnipiac University has been a strong one and now Odeen Tufto, who is committed to play for the Bobcats starting in 2017, has joined that tradition.

Tufto leads the Vipers in scoring and has produced 16 goals and 25 assists for 41 points in 39 games as a BCHL rookie.

The native of Chaska, Minn. has 10 multiple-point games this season, punctuated by a three-goal, three-assist game Dec. 12 in a 7-4 Vipers road win over the Langley Rivermen. The 5-foot-7, 155-pound playmaker has six goals and 10 assists on the man advantage and has three game-winning goals on the campaign.

At Quinnipiac, Tufto will join current teammate and goaltender Andrew Shortridge who is committed to Quinnipiac for this coming fall. Other current BCHLers Nick Jermain (Merritt) and Logan Mick (Langley) are also committed to play for the Bobcats in coming seasons.

Quinnipiac University is located in Hamden, Connecticut and the Bobcats compete in the NCAA’s Div. I ECAC Hockey conference. They play against schools such as Harvard, Union, Yale, Clarkson, St. Lawrence, Dartmouth and RPI.

Former BCHLers on the Bobcats current roster are Aldworth, Shiplo, Chase Priskie, Michael Garteig, Travis St. Denis, Brayden Sherbinin, Landon Smith, Devon Toews, Scott Davidson, Bo Pieper, Canon Pieper and Craig Martin.
