Veteran Vees forward DePourcq secures commitment to Bentley

Having fashioned an extensive BCHL resume that includes an RBC Cup national championship, Cody DePourcq is ready to move on.

And he’ll do that next season as a member of the Bentley University hockey team. DePourcq committed this week to the NCAA Div. I Falcons program.

DePourcq secured his deal about the same time that teammate Riley Alferd inked with the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

“I am very proud of Cody and Riley,” said Vees head coach and general manager Fred Harbinson. “Both will bring an energy and commitment to winning to their respective teams.”

A Penticton born and raised player, DePourcq played his 200th BCHL game Dec. 5. He is the lone player on the current Vees roster from the 2012 RBC Cup championship team.

Bentley University is located in Waltham, Mass. and the hockey team competes in the NCAA’s Atlantic Hockey Association against programs such as RIT, Robert Morris and Air Force.

The Falcons have been strong recruiters from the BCHL in recent years. Their roster currently features Nanaimo Clippers alums Andrew Gladiuk and Jayson Argue, West Kelowna Warriors alums Max French, Alex Grieve and Matt Maher and Vernon Vipers alum Steven Weinstein
