Vipers grad Aaron Volpatti signs with Canucks

The Vancouver Canucks announced on Monday that the club has signed Vernon Vipers graduate Aaron Volpatti to a multi-year contract. Volpatti recently concluded his senior season at Brown University.

The Revelstoke, B.C. native captained the Bears during the 2009/10 season while recording 32 points (17-15-32) in 37 games played . He set a school record for most penalty minutes in a season with 115 in 2009-10 and played four seasons in total at Brown, registering 62 points (32-30-62) and 236 penalty minutes in 123 career college games.

Volpatti, 24, played three seasons in Vernon, where he contributed 37 points and 279 penalty minutes in 137 games for the Vipers. He also appeared in the 2004 BCHL Playoffs, recording one goal and five penalty minutes in five games. In his final season in Vernon, Volpatti was named an assistant captain.
