Voros off to a fast start in Manhattan

When the New York Rangers signed Minnesota Wild forward and Victoria Salsa grad Aaron Voros as a free agent in July, they were expected grit, size, and a willingness to go hard to the net. They probably weren't guessing they'd nabbed one of the league's top scorers.

One week into the NHL regular season, Voros is showing that there's as much to his game around the net as there is in the corners. In five games, the Vancouver native has scored three times and added four assists, good for a tie atop team and league scoring.

And while the smart money isn't on Voros keeping up a point-a-game pace through April, he did show a knack for scoring in bunches as a rookie with the Wild last season. With the time he's seeing on the Rangers' power-play, the potential exists for a very impressive offensive season – and a great return on New York's $1.2 million investment.
