Welsh to play for Tigers

After a mid-season trade from Alberni Valley to Trail, Connor Welsh made the most of the opportunity and now has a place to play next season as well.

The seven goals and 17 assists Welsh posted in Trail with the Smoke Eaters, combined with the 5-5-10 he had in Alberni Valley before the transaction, gave him a stat line of 12-22-34 on the campaign. In his final season of Junior hockey, Welsh’s production attracted the attention of Dalhousie University in his home town of Halifax. Welsh will suit up for the Tigers starting in 2018-19.

For his BCHL career, which began in Alberni Valley in the 2016-17 season, Welsh recorded 17 goals and 38 assists for 55 points in 113 games.

Dalhousie competes in USports’ Atlantic University Sport (AUS) division along with St. Francis Xavier, Acadia, New Brunswick, St. Mary’s, UPEI and Moncton.

Last season, the Tigers featured just one former BCHL player on their roster in former Langley Rivermen forward Jackson Playfair. Welsh is the only player from this past season committed to Dalhousie for the season ahead.
