Coquitlam Express forward Joshua Wildauer will be heading back to his home state of Michigan next year as he has committed to the Lake Superior State Lakers for the 2019-20 season.
Wildauer heads into this weekend’s games leading the Express in scoring with 22 points (9-13-22) in 20 games, which ties him for 16th overall in the league. He has 56 points in 76 career regular-season games over his two years in Coquitlam.
The 19-year-old from Dearborn Heights, Mich. will be joining former teammate and Express captain Alex Ambrosio, who left for Lake Superior midway through last season, along with several other BCHL alums, including former Prince George Spruce Kings defenceman Tyler Anderson, former Alberni Valley Bulldogs defenceman Mitchell Oliver, former Merritt Centennials forward Diego Cuglietta, former Victoria Grizzlies forward Brayden Gelsinger, former West Kelowna Warriors forward Bryan Basilico and former Langley Rivermen forward Gage Torrel.
Prince George Spruce Kings forward Dustin Manz is the only other current BCHLer committed to the Lakers.
Lake Superior State is located in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. The Lakers have gotten off to a strong start this year, winning five of their first six games. They take on conference-rival Alaska this weekend in a two-game set.
