Yip, Rollheiser triumph at Frozen Four with Boston U

British Columbia Hockey League grads Brandon Yip and Grant Rollheiser are at opposite points in their college hockey careers, but the pair shared Frozen Four glory last weekend when their Boston University Terriers triumphed in the NCAA National Championship game.

The Terriers defeated Miami-Ohio in one of the NCAA's most wild finishes ever, scoring twice in the final minute of regulation to tie the game at 3-3 before winning in overtime.

For Yip, a senior, the win capped four successful years with the Terriers. In 2008/09, the Coquitlam Express alum finished fourth in team scoring with 20 goals and 43 points in 45 games. He also lent a physical presence, leading BU in penalty minutes with 110.

Rollheiser backed up star netminder Kieran Millan during his freshman season in Hockey East. The former Trail Smoke Eater finished the year with six wins, four losses and a tie in 12 games played, posting a 2.13 goals-against average and an .897 save percentage.

While Yip will likely embark on a career in professional hockey, Rollheiser has three years to wrestle away the starting job and make his own mark on the Terriers.
