Vernon Vipers forward Michael Zalewski has been named the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending April 10, the league announced Wednesday.
Zalewski scored in both Game 3 and Game 4 including the series-clinching overtime tally to oust the Powell River Kings and send the Snakes into the Doyle Cup.
The 6-foot-3, 205-pound native of New Hartford, New York is now tied for second on the Vipers with five goals in the playoffs. Zalewski, 18, is committed to attend NCAA Division I program Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the 2012-13 season.
Honourable mentions this week go to Powell River Kings forward Chad Niddery who tallied a goal and two assists in the series' final two games, Vernon defenceman Steven Weinstein whose three assists keyed the Vipers Game 4 comeback and Vernon forward David Robinson who scored Vernon's first two goals in Game 4.
