BCHL Finals: Game 3

Home ice continues to be a conundrum for teams in the BCHL Finals after the Chilliwack Chiefs went into West Kelowna and downed the Warriors 3-1 Monday night.

Aidan Pelino made 26 saves and goals from Connor McCarthy and Darien Craighead in the second were the difference for Chilliwack. After a scoreless first, McCarthy put the the Chiefs on the board first. Garrett Forster tied the game for West Kelowna as the midway point of the second approached but it would be the only puck to beat Pelino on the night.

Craighead’s goal from Vimal Sukumaran at 10:32 of the second proved to be the winner. Jordan Kawaguchi added an insurance tally in the third.

This was basically must-win territory for the Chiefs as a loss would have put them down 3-0 in the best-of-seven series. The win guarantees there will be a Game 5 back in Chilliwack on Friday.

First, however, is Game 4 which goes Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in West Kelowna.
