BCHL Playoffs: Thursday, March 10

The Cowichan Valley Capitals lived to fight another day, defeating the Powell River Kings 2-1, with Luke Santerno’s goal at 17:06 of the second period being the difference maker.

Powell River had a chance to close out the series, but the Capitals got a huge road victory, making the series 3-2 with a chance to even it on home ice this Saturday.

Adam Osczevski opened the scoring 5:59 into the first period, and assisted on Santerno’s game-winner. Corey Hoffman assisted on the first two Capital goals.

The Kings didn’t get on the board until 7:53 of the third, when Adam Brubacher scored his third of the series to cut the lead in half. Osczevski sealed the deal with am empty netter at 18:42 of the third period.

Storm Phaneuf was named first star after backstopping the Capitals to victory, stopping 48 of 49 shots he faced. Jeff Smith made 24 saves for the Kings. Game 6 goes Saturday at 7 p.m.
