Forster commits to Huskies

GForsterAfter a final BCHL season that included a league title and a national championship with the West Kelowna Warriors, Garrett Forster has added a personal cherry on top with an NCAA Div. I commitment.

The Delta, B.C. native will play at St. Cloud State University (SCSU) next season, joining a Huskies program based in St. Cloud, Minn.

Forster forged one of the lengthiest BCHL careers of any player in recent memory. He played 246 games with Chilliwack, Coquitlam, Surrey, Victoria and West Kelowna. This past season, he posted personal highs of 25 goals and 29 assists for the Warriors, adding six goals and 12 assists in the playoffs to help them the Fred Page Cup BCHL title. He had a goal and a helper on the way to a Warriors’ Crescent Point Energy Western Canada Cup win and registered four assists at the RBC Cup national championship.

Several BCHL players will join Forster at SCSU as Chilliwack’s Dennis Cholowski, Powell River’s Jeff Smith, Penticton’s Easton Brodzinski and Zach Driscoll (for 2017-18) and Salmon Arm’s Josh Blanchard are also committed. This past season, the Huskies iced a lineup that featured BCHL alums Joey Benik, David Morley and Patrick Newell.

The Huskies play in the NCAA’s National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) against defending national champion North Dakota as well as Miami-Ohio, Denver, Colorado College, Western Michigan and Nebraska-Omaha.
