SURREY, BC — February 10th, 2009 — The Surrey Eagles are pleased to announce that forward Spencer Bennett has committed to attend the University of Alaska-Anchorage for the 2010/11 season.
Growing up in nearby White Rock, Bennett was a product of Semiahmoo Minor Hockey who grew up watching the Eagles. His dedication and work ethic are unsurpassed, which has made it possible to achieve this lifelong goal.
In January, Bennett topped a list of five BC Hockey League prospects listed by NHL Central Scouting in the organization's 2009 midterm draft rankings, rated 93rd amongst North American skaters. He has also participated in the Canadian Junior Hockey League's 2008 Prsopects Game and was named the BCHL's Player of the Week on January 19th.
Bennett has scored 19 goals and added 21 assists in 54 games this season.
