Alberni Valley announces fan appreciation skate, jersey auction

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs already know that their quest for the Fred Page Cup begins with a second round home opener on Tuesday, March 9th. But the club will spend some of the time picked up by a first-round playoff bye to thank their fans for outstandings support during the 2009/10 regular season.

Bulldog supporters are encouraged to come out and skate with their favorite players on Saturday, February 27th at 6:30pm at the Weyerhaeuser Arena. Admission to the skate is by donation, with proceeds being donated to the Port Alberni KidSport chapter.

Bulldog supporters who make a donation during the skate will be entered into a draw to win Bulldog captain Sam Mitchell’s #25 game-worn third jersey. The jersey draw will take place at the conclusion of the skate on February 27th at approximately 7:30pm.

KidSport operates under the principle that no kid should be left on the sidelines and that all should be given the opportunity to experience the positive benefits of organized sports. KidSport provides support to children in order to remove financial barriers that prevent them from playing organized sport.

While Mitchell's jersey will be given away during the skate, the Bulldogs are auctioning off their complete set of third jerseys by way of online bidding at www.albernivalleybulldogs.com. Partial proceeds from the jersey auction will be donated to the BC Children’s Hospital.

The auction will on begin February 20th and end on March 8th, 2010 at 5:00pm. Jerseys will be ready for pick up to the highest bidder prior to playoff game #1 at the Bulldogs office at 10:00am March 9th, 2010.
