BCHL announces November Road Show event in Quesnel

In partnership with Lhtako Dene Nation, the BC Hockey League (BCHL) announced that this season’s Road Show event will take place Nov. 24 to 26 in Quesnel, B.C. and will feature two regular-season games between the Cowichan Valley Capitals and the Victoria Grizzlies.

The Road Show is designed to bring BCHL hockey to communities outside of the league’s 17 markets and to engage with the communities through school visits, minor hockey camps and more.

“Lhtako Dene Nation is extremely excited to bring the BCHL brand back to the community for these two games,” said Maynard Barra, Band Administrator for Lhtako Dene Nation. “We are blessed to have two of the league’s premier teams squaring off at the West Fraser centre for all of the community to take in. We would like to thank our partner West Fraser Mills, as well as Fraser River Chevrolet, West Jet, Sandman and, of course, the team at the BCHL for making this dream become a reality.”

This will be the third Road Show hosted by the BCHL after going to Burns Lake last season and Kitimat in 2020.

“We can’t wait to bring the Road Show to the great people of Quesnel next month,” said BCHL Commissioner Steven Cocker. “The community is already familiar with BCHL hockey having had the Millionaires as part of the league in the past, but we are excited to show them how our league has grown since then.”

“We are also honoured to be working alongside Chief Clifford Lebrun and the Lhtako Dene Nation who are our co-hosts for the event. The Road Show has become a great way for our league to work with passionate Indigenous communities across the province and to give our players, staff and fans an insight into their culture and traditions.”

Ticket sales and further event details will be provided in the coming weeks.
