BCHL Finals: Game 1

Matthew Greenfield was the story of Game 1 of the BCHL Finals, making 37 saves for the West Kelowna Warriors in a 2-0 shutout victory over the host Chilliwack Chiefs.

Kylar Hope’s goal late in the first, his eighth goal in his last five games, was all the offensive support Greenfield would need on the night. Kyle Marino added an insurance tally just past the midway point of the second.

The third period was scoreless, though tempers flared late with Warriors captain Marino and Chiefs forward Vimal Sukumaran both being sent off with 1:09 to go.

Greenfield’s effort earned him 1st Star in Game 1. It was his second shutout of the postseason and ran his record to 12-7.

Game 2 goes 7 p.m. Saturday at Prospera Centre in Chilliwack.
