BCHL grad Recchi strikes deal with Lightning

The Tampa Bay Lightning took another step towards a postseason return Tuesday, inking former Langley Eagles forward Mark Recchi to a one year contract. Recchi will join a host of new talent in Tampa, including recent signees Ryan Malone, Gary Roberts and fellow BCHL alum Olaf Kolzig.

Recchi's signing is the latest in a series of moved by the club since a group that includes Victoria Grizzlies owner and former NHLer Len Barrie purchased the team in May. The Lightning will also have first overall draft pick Steven Stamkos in board in the fall.

With 10 more points in the National Hockey League, Recchi will become the all-time highest scorer to come from the BCHL. He currently trails former St. Louis Blues great Brett Hull, who tallied 1391 career points.
