Vipers’ Kakoske commits to University of BC

Vernon Vipers defenceman Ryan Kakoske won't have to go far to begin his university hockey career. The 20-year old Vernon native has committed to attend the University of British Columbia and will join the Thunderbirds for their 2008/09 Canada West campaign.

“Ryan is the type of player that any coach would like to have,” Vipers head coach Mark Ferner says. “He's good in the room, he leads by example and he works hard every day to improve his game.”

“We could put Ryan in any situation and trust him to make good decisions. He was an invaluable member of our team this season.”

Kakoske was a solid contributor on the blueline for the Vipers, scoring twice and adding 16 assists while playing all 60 regular season games for the second consecutive season. He was also recognized recently for perseverence and excellence by a Vernon athlete with the Mark Nelson Memorial Award.
