BCHL Playoffs: Wednesday, April 6

Jordan Kawaguchi’s goal 59 seconds into overtime secured a 4-3 victory for the Chilliwack Chiefs, their second in the Round 3 double-round-robin.

It was all Chilliwack in the first with Kohen Olischefski, Taylor Allan and Rylan Bechtel scoring.

West Kelowna chipped away, getting on the scoresheet in the second on a Jake LeBrun goal. In the third, it was a pair of goals by Kylar Hope that forced OT, the tying goal coming with just 13 seconds left.

Kawaguchi wasted little time in overtime, scoring before the extra session was a minute old.

Aidan Pelino made 30 saves for the win while Matthew Greenfield made 23 stops for West Kelowna.

The last regularly scheduled game of the double-round-robin in Friday when West Kelowna visits Nanaimo. Should Nanaimo win, they would advance to the Finals as the top-seed while Chilliwack and West Kelowna would keep playing games until one of them also achieves a third win.

Should West Kelowna win Friday, all teams would be 2-2. In that event, a Page playoff format would be used.
