BCHL Saturday: Bulldogs top Silverbacks

Finally, the Alberni Valley Bulldogs were rewarded fro their hard work. Three second period goals led the =Bulldogs to a 3-2 win over the Salmon Arm Silverbacks on Saturday night.

Zack Mazo led the way for the Dogs with two goals while Brett Mohler added two assists. Colin Rundell turned aside 22 shots for Alberni Valley. Keenan Desmet and Brett Knowles replied with tallies for the Silverbacks.

In other Interior Conference buildings:

  • The Westside Warriors took a 3-0 lead and held on to defeat the Penticton Vees 5-2 on the road Saturday. Brad Plumton led the way for the Warriors with four points.
  • The Quesnel Millionaires stopped Burnaby's recent win charge with a 5-3 victory on home ice. Taylor Rovatti led the way for Quesnel with two goals and an assist.
  • Bryce Kakoske paced the Vernon Vipers with three points in a 6-3 road win over the Merritt Centennials.

Meanwhile, the Victoria Grizzlies bounced backed from an overtime loss to the Cowichan Valley Capitals, defeating the same Caps team 5-2 on home ice Saturday. Justin Courtnall led the way with three points while Sam Higgins and Evan Pighin added multi-point efforts.

In other Coastal Conference arenas:

  • It took a goal from Steve Mason one minute into the first overtime period to break a 0-0 deadlock between the Surrey Eagles and Nanaimo Clippers. Clippers netminder Mark Troudsell stopped all 44 shots sent his way for the victory.
  • The Langley Chiefs came from two down to defeat the Powell River Kings 5-2. Milos Gordic notched two goals and an assist for the Chiefs, while Mac Roy tallied three assists.
