BCHL Saturday: Road Teams Dominate

It was a good night for the road squads as five of six contests were taken by the visitors.  The Powell River Kings, Cowichan Valley Capitals, Westside Warriors, Prince George Spruce Kings, and Salmon Arm SilverBacks were all victorious away from home.  The Victoria Grizzlies were the lone home team to grab a win.

In Surrey, the BCHL Game of the Week featured the Powell River Kings taking on the hometown Eagles and it was good one.  Kyle Bodie scored once and added an assist as the Kings were 3-2 winners.  Erik Vos and Ryan Green were the other Kings scorers while Carsen Chubak won his second straight start in the BCHL stopping 25 of 27 shots in the Powell River goal.

In Vernon, the Prince George Spruce Kings finished off their three game road swing through the Okanagan with a 4-3 overtime win over the Vipers.  Sam Muchalla scored the winner just 15 seconds into the extra frame.  The goal was Muchalla's second of the night.  Kevin Genoe was outstanding in the Spruce Kings goal making 37 saves.

The Cowichan Valley Capitals hit the net often in their 6-1 win over the Burnaby Express at the Bill Copeland Arena.  Jimmy Geerin scored twice and added an assist while Jack Currie also enjoyed a three point night with a goal and two assists.  Chris Rawlings allowed just one goal on 29 shots in the Capitals goal to record the victory.

The Salmon Arm SilverBacks were in Merritt to take on the Centennials and handed the Centennials a 8-2 thumping.  Mark Zengerle continues to put up points as he scored once and added a pair of assists.  Tony Ierfino was the winner in goal stopping 23 of 25 Merritt shots.

In Quesnel, the Millionaires and Westside Warriors combined for seven goals in the final 20 minutes in a 7-5 Warriors win.  Tyler Krause led the way offensively with four assists while Ron Kelly scored once and added two assists.  Kevin Jebson made 23 saves to secure the win in goal.

The Victoria Grizzlies made quick work of the visiting Alberni Valley Bulldogs as they downed the Bulldogs 8-1 at the Bear Mountain Arena.  Jonathan Milhouse scored twice and added two assists while Miles McRea scorec twice and added a single assist.  Anthony Grieco stopped 28 of 29 shots in the Victoria goal to earn the win.
