BCHL Thursday: Vees net Double OT win

Cleary, somebody forgot to the tell the BCHL's Interior Conference the keys to being a hospitable host.

For the second consecutive night, the Coastal-leading Victoria Grizzlies were ousted on the road, this time in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Penticton Vees. Denver Manderson and Zach Josepher led the way offensively for the reigning BCHL champs, both contributing two-point efforts. Manderson scored an early first period goal and also assisted on Travis Ouelette's double overtime winner.

Evan Pighin responded for the Grizzlies with a pair of tallies and Derek Lee notched two assists.

Anthony Borelli stopped 16 shots for the victory while Anthony Grieco took the loss, turning away 19 of 20 shots after replacing Alex Peck after the first period.

In other action around the BC Hockey League on Thursdya night:

  • The Westside Warriors got the offensive outburst they'd been waiting for in a 6-2 victory at home to Quesnel. Garrett Watson, Brendan Ellis, Trevor Bailey and Justin Schultz all had two-point nights while netminder Kevin Jebson stopped 22 shots in the win. Ben Payne and Riley Marsh replied for the Millionaires.
  • Derek Grant's goal less than a minute into the third period was the difference in Langley's 3-2 home ice win over Alberni Valley. Colton Beck and Josh McEwan scored first period goals for the Chiefs while Evan Witt and Jackson Garrett tallied for the Bulldogs. Wyatt Waselenchuk turned aside 29 shots in the victory.
