BCHL Tuesday: Chiefs, Clippers victorious on the Coast

The Nanaimo Clippers and Langley Chiefs each picked up a pair of points on the road Tuesday night in BCHL Coastal Conference action.

In Richmond, the Surrey Eagles hosted the Clippers in the team's annual game at the city's International Midget Tournament. Down 1-0 from an Adam Basford goal entering the second period, the Clippers exploded for five in the middle frame to take control in a 5-1 victory.

Andrew Gladiuk led the way for the visitors, picking up the game winner while assisting on three other Nanaimo tallies. Nicholas MacIntyre, Myles Fitzgerald, Luc Olivier Blain and Brayden Jaw also scored.

Loic Boivin picked up the win in net after stopping 30 of the 31 shots sent his way, while Eagles starter Vinny Lessard was chased following the Clippers' fourth goal and relieved by Andrew Hunt.

In Burnaby, the Langley Chiefs came out on the winning end of a high-scoring 7-5 game at the Bill Copeland Sports Centre.

The Express took a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes following goals by Dylan Herold and Simon Denis, but Langley stormed back for five in the second period highlighted by power-play markers from Mac Roy and Brad Goss. Garrick Perry scored a pair in the third period to draw the Express close.

Colton Beck, with a pair, Kody Dhaliwal, Jordan Sims and Colten Hayes also tallied for the Chiefs, who outshot their hosts by a 36-29 margin.

The Chiefs return home Wednesday to face the Nanaimo Clippers, while the other Coastal Conference match-up features the Cowichan Valley Capitals making the trip to Alberni Valley.
