Brett Knowles named POW

Salmon Arm SilverBack Brett Knowles has been named BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending March 20th, the league announced Monday.

Knowles was an offensive force this past week after posting six points (3 G, 3 A) in three games as the `Backs finished off Penticton in Game 5 and then took down Vernon twice to open up the Interior Conference Final.

In his last three games, Knowles has been named the second star each time, helping his SilverBacks improve their playoff record to 10-1. The 5-foot-11, 176 pound Vanderhoof, BC native has been the SilverBacks leading scorer during the playoffs with 19 points (7 G, 12 A) in just 11 games played and has recently committed to play at Minnesota State- Mankato for the 2012 campaign.

Honorable mentions this week include Salmon Arm forward Mike Hammond (three games, one goal, four assists, one 3rd star), Powell River’s Jon Jutzi (five games, three goals, two 1st stars) and Surrey’s Tyler Morley (three games, two goals, one assist, one 1st star).
