They are teammates now and in a couple of seasons, they will be teammates again in the NCAA.
That’s the outlook for Vernon Vipers brothers Steven and Chris Jandric, who have both committed to the University of Alaska. Steven, a 1997-born forward, will head north next season. Chris, a 1998-born defenceman, will go to school the following for the 2018-19 season.
Steven has six goals and five assists in 18 games this season while Chris has picked up 10 assists from the blueline in 17 contests.
At Alaska, the brothers will join a Nanooks team that currently features seven BCHL alums in Brandon Morley, Marcus Basara, Chad Staley, Ross Heidt, Jordan Burns, Jesse Jenks and Kylar Hope. The other current BCHL player committed to Alaska is the Jandric’s teammate, forward Jimmy Lambert.
The Nanooks compete in the NCAA’s Div. I Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA). The other teams in the WCHA are Bowling Green, Alabama-Huntsville, Bemidji State, Michigan Tech, Lake Superior State, Alaska-Anchorage, Ferris State, Northern Michigan and Minnesota State.
