Now past the midway mark of his freshman NCAA season, former Prince George Spruce Kings and Powell River Kings defenceman Adam Brubacher is hitting his stride.
The 6-foot-4 blueliner with the big shot from the point had a goal and two helpers for RIT in a recent conference weekend and took last week’s Atlantic Hockey Association defensive player of the week nod.
Brubacher tallied a goal and two helpers as RIT earned a split on the road against conference rival AIC. He had a goal and a helper in a 5-0 win in the opener and notched an assist the next night, a 5-3 setback. The native of Elmira, Ont. now has five goals and 11 assists on the season, which is fifth on the team and the most among defencemen and freshmen.
With 15 points in league play, Brubacher leads all Atlantic Hockey rookies in scoring and is +13 in conference games.
In his lone BCHL season last year, split between Prince George and Powell River, Brubacher chalked up 18 goals and 31 assists for 49 points while playing all 58 games. Of his 18 goals, nine were on the man advantage. He added three goals and three helpers in 10 playoff games.
