Busy Wednesday in the BCHL – Recap

It was a very busy Wednesday night in the BCHL as no less than five games were on the schedule around the league.  The Alberni Valley Bulldogs, Langley Chiefs, Penticton Vees, Cowichan Valley Capitals, and Salmon Arm Silverbacks were all winners as the final buzzers went off.

Busy is the best way to describe Harrison May's night in Prince George as the Alberni Valley netminder made 46 saves in backstopping his Bulldogs to a 5-2 road win over the Spruce Kings.  Lee Patzer led the way offensively for the Dogs as he scored twice and added an assist.  Matt Frydrysek also enjoyed a strong outing with a goal and one assist for the Bulldogs.  Shane Malone added two helpers for Alberni Valley.

The Langley Chiefs broke their game with the Surrey Eagles open in the second period an proceeded to down the visiting Eagles 9-4 at the George Preston Recreation Centre in Lanlgey.  Derek Grant scored twice while Jesse Tresierra, Nolan Julseth-White, Trevor Elias, and Brad Bakken all scored once and recorded one assist in the Langley win.  Scott Orth picked up the win in goal making 40 saves.

Alex Evin recorded the shut-out victory in Penticton as the Vees were 3-0 winners over the visiting Trail Smoke Eaters.  Cory Schneider scored twice to lead the Vees while Denver Manderson continues to put up points scoring once and adding an assist.  Evin earned 1st honours in the game with his 24 save performance.

The Cowichan Valley Capitals played host to the Victoria Grizzlies in an all Island match-up that saw the hometown Caps skate to a 4-2 win over the Grizzlies.  Clinton Pettapiece was in on all Caps markers as he scored twice and added two assist.  Brooks Robinson notched the other two Cowichan Valley goals and added a single assist in a three point night.  Kiefer Smiley was good on 32 of 33 shots faced to record the win in goal.

The Salmon Arm Silverbacks kept pace with the Penticton Vees atop the Interior Conference with a 5-4 road win in Quesnel over the Millionaires.  Connor Morrison led the way offensively as he scored twice.  Michael, Glaicar, Sam Mitchell, and Randy Hanagan picked up the other Silverback goals.  Jason Horstman eanred the win in goal stopping 30 of 34 shots.

There is just a single game in the BCHL Thursday as the Alberni Valley Bulldogs are in Quesnel to take on the Millionaires.
