The Quesnel Millionaires and Alberni Valley Bulldogs squared of in the lone BCHL game Thursday night as the Dogs were in Quesnel after picking up a win the night before in Prince George. The Millionaires were not as welcoming as they downed the visitors 4-2 on the strength of two goals by Trevor Hertz.
Hertz opened the scoring in the first period, just past the 3:00 mark as he converted a feed from John Williams. Daniel Moriarty evened the score with his first of two on the night for the Bulldogs just 20 seconds later but Hertz's second before the end of the first period gave the Mills a 2-1 lead heading into the middle frame.
After the teams traded goals in the second – Solomon McCann (Quesnel) and Moriarty (Alberni), Lee Pagee tallied for the hometown side in the final stanza to give the Mills some breathing room. Jeff Malcolm shut the door the rest of the way in the Quesnel goal as they record the 4-2 win.
There are six games scheduled Friday in the BCHL.
