Canada West dominates first exhibition tilt

There's no question that Burnaby Express forward Brodie Reid is one of the top snipers in the BC Hockey League. It didn't take long for his Team Canada West teammates to find it out firsthand.

Reid notched a hat trick and added an assist in Canada West's 9-2 victory over Augustana College on Wednesday night in the team's first exhibition game prior to the 2008 World Junior A Challenge.

Langley Chiefs forward and Ottawa Senators draft pick Derek Grant added a pair of first period power-play goals for Team West, while Denver Manderson chipped in two assists and Matt Grassi added a helper.

Prince George Spruce Kings netminder Kevin Genoe stopped all six shots he faced in 20 minutes of action. Genoe is competing for the team's starting job with Aaron Dell (Calgary Canucks) and Andrew Bodnarchuk (Humboldt Broncos).

Canada West will now prepare for its final exhibition game against Canada East before the tournament begins on Sunday against Belarus.
