Caps D-man Lepage earns CIS future at York University

Having just completed his final year of Junior hockey with the Cowichan Valley Capitals, veteran defenceman Julien Lepage has committed to play at York University starting this fall.

Playing in all 58 games for the Capitals this season, Lepage put up five goals and 18 assists along with 82 penalty minutes.  His season with the Caps followed a lengthy stint in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League where he played a combined 260 junior games played with 65 points.

The 21-year-old native of Baie-Comeau, Que. proved to be a force in his own zone, seldom losing puck battles or position. His ability to chip in on offence while playing a physical game will be a valuable asset.

Starting this September, Lepage will suit up for the three-time national champion Lions who compete in the Ontario University Athletics conference of the CIS. Other teams in York's division include Western Ontario, Brock, Guelph and U. of Toronto.
