Chiefs’ Beck named BCHL Player of the Week

Langley Chiefs forward Colton Beck has been named the British Columbia Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending November 15th, the league announced Sunday.

Beck torched opposition defences for seven goals and 13 points in just four games last week. On Tuesday, Beck had a hand in all of his team's goals in a 5-3 road win at Westside, scoring twice and assisting on three others. Two nights later, the 19-year old scored a hat trick and totalled four points in a 10-5 loss to the Victoria Grizzlies.

On Friday, Beck picked up an assist in a 4-3 overtime loss to Merritt before scoring twice and picking up an assist a night later when the Centennials completed the home-and-home series in Langley. He was named a game star three times in four games.

With his explosive week, Beck jumped to eighth in BCHL scoring with 16 goals and 34 points. Those totals also lead the Chiefs through 26 games played. Langley is next in action on Thursday when they host the Westside Warriors in the second game of a six-game homestand at the Langley Events Centre.

Honourable mentions for the Player of the Week included Salmon Arm's Mark Zengerle, Westside's Trevor Bailey and Nanaimo's Luc Olivier Blain.
