Chiefs’ Plevy commits to Merrimack

The British Columbia Hockey League's Langley Chiefs are pleased to announce that rookie forward Austin Plevy has committed to attend Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts and suit up for the NCAA Division I Warriors for the 2013/14 season.

Plevy has enjoyed solid play while getting acclimated in his first season with the Chiefs as a 16-year old. The Langley native has suited up in six regular season games for the Coastal Conference leaders and registered two asists.

“Austin has been solid for us so far,” says Chiefs head coach Harvey Smyl. “He got into a few games last year and that probably helped prepare for what was ahead this year. He has adapted well and we expect him to continue to grow into a big contributor for our hockey down the road.”

Smyl noted that the Langley Minor Hockey product was on the Chiefs radar at a young age and that his commitment for the 2013/14 season will allow him two more seasons after this year to play in front of his hometown fans.

On behalf of the entire Langley Chiefs organization we would like to congratulate Austin on this accomplishment and wish him future success at Merrimack and beyond.
