Chiefs ride strong second period to tenth consecutive victory

The Langley Chiefs extended their winning streak to an impressive ten games on Saturday night, scoring three second period goals en route to a 4-2 victory over the visiting Prince George Spruce Kings.

RJay Berra opened the scoring  for Prince George at 2:10 of the first period, taking a pass from Nick DeSousa and beating Chiefs starter Mark Friesen. But Langley took control in the second period with three consecutive goals, as Josh Myers, Brad McBride and Dennis Robertson all hit the scoreboard.

Berra counted his second of the night on a third period power-play to bring the Spruce Kings back within one, but Colton Beck scored the insurance marker 4:35 into the third period to wrap up the victory.

The win also marked Friesen's tenth consecutive victory, as the Langley netminder stopped 22 shots. Former Chiefs starter Andrew Walsh made 33 saves in a losing cause.

The Chiefs are now idle until Thursday evening when they host the Burnaby Express, while the Spruce Kings return to the ice on Friday in Quesnel.
