Clips defenceman Gebert commits to play for Owls next season

Nanaimo Clipper defenceman Todd Gebert has committed to Westfield State of the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) for this fall.

The 6-foot-3,  210-pound native of Surrey came to the Clippers during the 2009-2010 season and has played an important role on the blueline the past two years.

After a strong 2010 playoff, Gebert had off season shoulder surgery. When Gebert was back in the Clippers lineup, he made his defensive presence felt and kept opposing forwards honest every time they entered the Clippers defensive zone.

Gebert spent two seasons in the BCHL, both split between Nanaimo and the Victoria Grizzlies. His stint this season with the Clips was the longest of his career and he posted his first goal and wound up with a goal and 12 assists in 92 regular season games.

The Nanaimo Clippers wish to thank Todd for his commitment to the organization and to congratulate him on this great accomplishment to further his education and hockey career.
