‘Dogs goalie LaCouvee finds another canine fit with Boston University

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs are proud to announce that goalie Connor LaCouvee has committed to the Boston University Terriers for the 2014/15 season.

Circumstance dictated a laborious route to the final destination as he found himself caught in the netminder numbers game.

LaCouvee found his way to Alberni Valley via the Cowichan Valley Capitals, the Nanaimo Clippers, the Grand Prairie Storm (AJHL) and the Merritt Centennials before arriving in Port Alberni.

After pulling on the Bulldogs sweater, things clicked into place for the Qualicum Beach, B.C. product. Down the final stretch of the season and into the playoffs, LaCouvee was one of the top goalies in the BCHL as he posted a 9-6 mark, .937 save percentage and 2.37 goals-against average to go along with two shutouts.

In the opening round against favoured Victoria, LaCouvee backstopped the 'Dogs to Game 7 in an eventual loss where he made 58 saves. He had a .929 save percentage and a shutout in the series.

LaCouvee will continue his hockey career with the storied Terriers program at Boston University, hoping the canine moniker similarity will remain a positive.

"I can't thank the Bulldogs organization enough for giving me the opportunity to prove myself in the BCHL,” said Connor LaCouvee. “They gave me a chance when no one else would."

A huge thanks to all the billet parents and fans who showed unwavering support throughout the entire year. We truly have the most devoted fan base in the BCHL. My time spent in Port Alberni was nothing but positive. The memories I have there I will cherish
for, not only the remainder of my hockey career, but the rest of my life as well."
