Down early, Express use PP to come back against Kings

The Coquitlam Express found themselves down two goals early while visiting the Powell River Kings but rallied with their power play on their way to a 5-3 win.

Jon Jutzi and Craig Dalrymple had the home side up early but Alex Kerfoot, John Siemer and Connor Redmond each scored on the man advantage in the space of 1:32 to give the Express a lead after one.

Taylor Bourne scored his first of two in the second and in the third the Kings outshot the Express 11-4 but only Dalrymple couldn't beat 1st Star Cole Huggins and the Express hung on for the win.

In Nanaimo, Kyle Kramer's goal 15 seconds into OT won it 2-1 for the Clippers over the Cowichan Valley Capitals. The first and third periods were scoreless as the Caps' Steven Iacobellis and Clips' Luke Gordon exchanged goals in the second.

The Surrey Eagles got 33 saves from 1st Star Andrew Hunt and defeated the visiting Vernon Vipers 3-2. After a scoreless first, Vernon's Marcus Basara and Surrey's Charles Orzetti exchanged power-play goals in the second. Surrey went up a pair early in the third with Tyler Morley and Robert Lindores tallying. Darren Nowick had a late goal for Vernon.

In Victoria, the Grizzlies scored four times in the third, including a Wesley Myron natural hat trick, to come from behind and beat the Alberni Valley Bulldogs 6-3. The 'Dogs led 3-1 after one but Brad Gehl's goal in the second had the Grizz back within one. In the third, Nolan DeJong tied it and then Myron got going and completed the hat trick with an empty netter.

The Langley Rivermen gave up two goals in the first minute of the game to the visiting Westside Warriors but tied the game 2-2 after one and scored three in the second on their way to a 6-3 win. Mike Tebbutt and Chris Tracy had a pair of goals each including Tracy's game-winner early in the second.

In Merritt, the Centennials led from start to finish beginning with Billy Marshall's goal 26 seconds into the game on their way to a 4-1 win over the Chilliwack Chiefs. Regan Soquila and Brandon Bruce put the Cents up three in the second before Malcolm Gould got the Chiefs on the board. Evan Stack's empty-netter with a second left finished the scoring.

The Penticton Vees scored two in the first and three in the second in a 6-2 road win over the Salmon Arm SilverBacks. Morgan Zulinick's goal in the first got Salmon Arm within one but that was as close as it would get. Connor Reilly had a pair as the Vees built a 5-1 lead by the middle of the second and Steven Fogarty added the final tally in the third.
