Recently acquired forward Gervais tallies a pair for Vees in win over cents

In his first game for the Penticton Vees, Bryce Gervais introduced himself to the home fans with a pair of goals and a three-point night in a 4-1 win over the Merritt Centennials.

The Battlefords, Sask. native, who joined the Vees after a deal with Salmon Arm, scored both Vees second-period goals after Steven Fogarty opened the scoring in the first. He was in on a Joey Benik goal late in the third as well.

Regan Soquila was the only Cents player to beat Michael Garteig who made 32 saves in the Vees crease.

The Coquitlam Express won 4-0 on the road over the Alberni Valley Bulldogs with captain and 1st Star Alex Petan setting up all the goals. Zach Hodder opened the scoring and added a shorthanded marker early in the second. John Siemer scored soon after that on a power play and Malcolm McKinney rounded out the scoring in the third. Cole Huggins made 36 stops for his second shutout.

In Langley, the Rivermen put up a three-spot in the third to defeat the Vernon Vipers 5-2. Vernon led 1-0 and 2-1 but power-play goals from 1st Star Darnell Dyck  tied the game each time. In the third, Mike Tebbutt and Patrick Martens scored nine seconds apart and Thomas Nitsche added the other.

Former Cowichan Valley Capital Chase Kaiser scored on a penalty shot in double overtime giving the Victoria Grizzlies a 6-5 win over the Caps. Cowichan Valley scored the first three goals of the game but couldn't make it stand. The Caps led 3-1 after one with Brandon Mistal getting his first of two but Wade Murphy had a pair in response for the Grizz and Taylor Pernerowski's marker late in the third forced OT setting up Kaiser's performance.

In Chilliwack, the Chiefs also had a double-OT win – 5-4 over the Westside Warriors – despite being down 3-1 after one. Chilliwack's Malcolm Gould opened the scoring but Westside answered with goals from Taylor Fauchoux, Richard Vanderhoek and Travis Blanleil. Chilliwack tied it in the second and the teams traded goals in the third before Alexandre Perron-Fontaine scored in extra time.

The Prince George Spruce Kings scored a goal each period in a 3-2 win over the Salmon Arm SilverBacks. PG opened the scoring with Paul De Jersey's early tally and went up 2-0 on recently activated Jeff Earnest's first of the year. Brett Knowles and Shane Hanna tied the game for Salmon Arm but Tyson Witala's goal in the third was the winner for the Spruce Kings.
