Surrey Eagles grad Brad McGowan of the Rochester Institute of Technology Tigers was named the Atlantic Hockey Association Rookie of the Week last week. It is McGowan's first weekly honor.
McGowan scored a pair of goals in a 1-0-1 weekend for the Tigers against Army last weekend. On Friday, he opened the scoring late in the second period, ripping a shot from the slot home off a giveaway.
On Saturday, he scored the crucial insurance goal off a rebound with 7:59 left in regulation in a 5-3 win. McGowan now has four points in six games this season.
Last season in Surrey, McGowan racked up 89 points to finish third in league scoring.
