Eagles netminder Andrew Hunt saves the way to Player of the Week

Surrey Eagles goaltender Andrew Hunt has been named the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending Dec. 18, the league announced Monday.

Hunt claimed the decision in three of the Eagles four wins last week and was twice named 1st Star. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound netminder began the week with 42 saves on 43 shots in a 4-1 win over Powell River, followed that up by stopping all but two pucks in a win over Victoria and concluded the week with 29 saves on 30 shots in a defeat of Prince George.

The Surrey native had a .961 save percentage and 1.33 goals-against average for the week.

Honourable mentions this week go to Penticton Vees defenceman Mike Reilly (one goal, five assists, two 2nd Stars), Penticton Vees forward Ryan Reilly (three goals, three assists, 1st Star), Coquitlam Express forward John Siemer (three goals, two assists, 2nd Star), Nanaimo Clippers forward Andrew Gladiuk (five goals, two 1st Stars) and Surrey forward Sean McGovern (three goals, two assists, 1st Star, 3rd Star).
