Penticton Vees and Powell River Kings alum Alex Evin of Colgate University has been named the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference goalie of the week.
Evin continued his solid play between the pipes this month with his second win of the month in a 4-1 win over Vermont Friday night.
He pushed aside 32-of-33 shots by Vermont and had 30-plus saves in his third-straight start. Had 27 of his 32 stops in the first two periods, including 14 stops in the first period, when the Raiders were down 1-0.
Evin played five seasons and 190 games in the BCHL from 2003 to 2008. He spent his first three campaigns in Powell River, one season with the now-defunct Williams Lake TimberWolves and his final season with the Vees. Evin compiled a 79-86-5 record in the BCHL with 10 shutouts.
He won at BCHL title with Penticton in 2008 and had a 31-10-1 record that season and a 12-3 mark in the playoffs.
