Express take first of four games in Northern series

The Burnaby Express didn't wait for a midseason road trip to experience the hospitality in Northern B.C. Instead, the team took a different approach to its preseason preparations, accepting an invitation to play a four-game exhibition series at the EnCana Events Centre in Dawson Creek. Wednesday night, Burnaby opened with a 6-4 win over the Prince George Spruce Kings.

Reid Edmondson led the way for the Express with a hat trick, while sniper Brodie Reid added a breakaway tally. Greg Bay and Colin de Jersey also tallied for Burnaby, while Alex Allen netted a pair in the loss for Prince George.

The night marked the first hockey at Dawson Creek's new 4,500-seat facility. The Express and Spruce Kings will face off again Thursday night while the Grand Prairie Storm will come to town for games against Burnaby on Friday and Saturday night.
