Flanagan the latest SilverBack to commit to MSU-Mankato

The Salmon Arm SilverBacks are pleased to announce another NCAA commitment from one as second-year BCHL defenceman Sean Flanagan has agreed to take his talents to Minnesota State University – Mankato, for the 2013-2014 season.

The 20 year old native of Kindersley, Sask. played two seasons for the SJHL's Kindersley Klippers; posting 42 points in 108 games before an off-season trade brought him to Salmon Arm last year.

The fleet-footed, puck-moving veteran provided many highlight reel plays in his first year as a SilverBack with eight goals and 23 assists, eventually being named the 'Backs Best Defenseman of 2011-2012. His vision and hockey sense are considered some of his best assets and helped earn him this opportunity to play NCAA Division I hockey.

Flanagan will join former SilverBack favourites and friends Bryce Gervais and Brett Knowles at Mankato as well as new teammate Ryan Schwalbe, adding some more flash and offensive prowess to a SilverBack-heavy roster.

The 'Backs would like to congratulate Sean on his excellent break-out campaign in the BCHL and wish him the best of luck in his final Junior season as he prepares to further his hockey and educational career.
