Sherwood Park Crusaders forward Masun Fleece, Cranbrook Bucks forward Rasmus Svartström and Chilliwack Chiefs forward Nico Grabas have been named the NAPA Auto Parts 3 Stars of the Week.
1st Star – Masun Fleece (F) – Sherwood Park Crusaders
Fleece led all BCHL players with eight points in just two games last week, piling up three goals and five assists in a pair of Crusaders wins.
On Friday, the Penn State University commit recorded the highest point total of any BCHL player this season with a six-point effort in an 8-5 home win over the Cranbrook Bucks. With three points in the first period, two in the second and another one in the third, his two-goal, four-assist effort earned him first star of the game. On Sunday, Fleece recorded his second straight multi-point outing with a goal and an assist in a 3-2 road victory over the Prince George Spruce Kings.
Since joining the Cru’ in December, the Rolling Hills, Calif. product has 12 goals, 13 assists and 25 points in 24 games.
2nd Star – Rasmus Svartström (F) – Cranbrook Bucks
Svartström finished the week with two goals, four assists and six points in three games, helping Cranbrook to a 2-1 record.
The Finnish-born forward started off with a two-assist night in the Bucks 3-2 midweek win at home against the Victoria Grizzlies, then contributed a goal and two helpers on Friday in an 8-5 road loss to the Sherwood Park Crusaders. He capped things off by scoring the overtime winner on Saturday night in a 2-1 victory over the Okotoks Oilers.
Svartström continues to pace all BCHL players in goals and is up to 42 on the season, while his 62 points in 50 games put him in a tie for sixth in overall league scoring.
3rd Star – Nico Grabas (F) – Chilliwack Chiefs
Grabas piled up five points in two Chiefs wins last week on three goals and two assists.
After contributing an assist on Friday in Chilliwack’s 5-0 road win over the Langley Rivermen, the 19-year-old had a career night on Saturday in the Chiefs 7-4 victory against the Surrey Eagles. Grabas recorded his first ever BCHL hat trick, added an assist and was named first star of the game. The Canisius University commit picked up his helper in the first period, before scoring two goals just over four minutes apart in the second. He sealed his milestone night with an empty-netter in the third.
In 47 games this season, Grabas has 15 goals, 26 assists and 41 points.
