Former SilverBack Spady is Defenceman of the Week for Wildcats

BCHL graduate Erik Spady has been named the Central Collegiate Hockey Association Defenceman of the Week for the week ending January 24, the league announced Thursday.

Spady, who spent two seasons with the Salmon Arm SilverBacks, picked up his fifth and sixth assists of the season as his Northern Michigan University Wildcats swept the Ferris State Bulldogs.

The 5-foot-11, 200-pound blueliner from Deroche, B.C. played for the SilverBacks in 2005-06 and 2006-07, appearing in 109 games. He scored 14 goals and added 44 assists for the Gorillas.

Now in is his senior season at Northern Michigan where he is majoring in pre-veterinary studies, Spady has helped the Wildcats to a 9-7-2 conference record and an 11-11-4 record overall this year.
