Friesen, Beck lead Chiefs to ninth straight win

It's no coincidence that the acquistion of goaltender Mark Friesen by the Langley Chiefs was followed by the team's strongest and most consistent run of games this season. On Friday, Friesen made 35 and backstopped his team to its ninth consecutive victory in a 4-2 decision over the Surrey Eagles.

Reigning BCHL Player of the Week Colton Beck also did his part for the Chiefs, opening the scoring on a first period power play and striking again in the second . Langley goals from Mitch Pacey and Josh Myers were sandwiched between Beck's pair, and the visitors held a 4-0 lead just four minutes into the middle frame.

Chris Santiago and Richard Vanderhoek replied for the Eagles before the second intermission, but Surrey failed to beat Friesen again despite 15 third period shots. Mike Chan took the loss after allowing four goals on 30 shots.

The Chiefs will attempt to extend their winning streak to double digits on Saturday when they return home to face the Prince George Spruce Kings, while Surrey will face a test with a visit from the Coastal Conference-leading Alberni Valley Bulldogs.
