Gongshow CJHL 3 Stars includes Vees backstop

(Saturday, March 11, 2017) – The Canadian Junior Hockey League announced today that goaltender Mathew Robson of the Penticton Vees (BCHL) along with forwards Logan Ferguson of the Canmore Eagles (AJHL) and Jack Jacome of the Georgetown Raiders (OJHL) have been named its Gongshow Gear 3 Stars of the Month for February.

1ST STAR: MATHEW ROBSON, (G) PENTICTON VEES (BCHL) – Penticton goaltender Mat Robson posted an 8-2-0-0 mark for the month, helping the Vees secure top spot in their division and a first-round bye in the BCHL playoffs. … The 20-year-old Toronto, Ont., native turned aside 278 of the 289 shots that came his way and registered a sparkling .961 save percentage. … Robson also posted three shutouts in February to help him record a stingy 1.10 goals-against average in his 10 starts. … The six-foot-three-inch, 190-pound netminder was named a game star on four occasions. … Robson’s six shutouts for the season was tops in the BCHL … He earlier committed to attend school on NCAA scholarship at the University of Minnesota for next season where he’ll play Big 10 hockey for the Golden Gophers. … Robson also earned BCHL player of the month laurels for February.

2ND STAR: LOGAN FERGUSON, (F) CANMORE EAGLES (AJHL) – Ferguson was an offensive force in the AJHL last month etching his name on the scoresheet in all 11 outings he took part in amassing 27 points, including 20 assists. … A total of eight of those contests were multi-point affairs. … The 19-year-old Calgary, Alta., product finished second in AJHL scoring with 94 points after notching 32 goals and helping set-up 62 others. …He was also tied for second in point-per-game average in his league at 1.6. … Ferguson previously picked up one AJHL player of the week honours and was selected the league’s player of the month. … The Eagles alternate captain was a finalist for the AJHL’s Most Dedicated Player award. … Ferguson has committed to attend Holy Cross on NCAA D-I scholarship and skate for the Crusaders of the Atlantic Hockey conference.

3RD STAR: JACK JACOME, (F) GEORGETOWN RAIDERS (OJHL) – The diminutive Georgetown forward captured his second OJHL player-of-the-month award in 2016-17 by averaging 2.37 points-per-game in February to help the Raiders clinch the OJHL’s regular season title. … In all, Jacome’s nine goals last month were tops in the South-West Conference, while his 19 points in eight games played were three more than his closest competition in the entire league. … His efforts helped him lead the OJHL in offensive production and capture their top scorer award with 91 points in total. … Among his contributions last month were six multiple points nights, including a four-point and a six-point outing, as well as notch his second hat trick of the season. … The 18-year-old Jacome, who hails from Caledon, Ont., is also committed to the NCAA as he’ll attend school at Clarkson University and compete in the ECAC with Golden Knights commencing in the fall.
