The Wenatchee Wild pulled off a dramatic comeback in the final seconds at home to defeat the Prince George Spruce Kings 4-3 in the game and 4-2 in their best-of-seven opening round playoff series.
Trailing 3-1 after 40 minutes of play, the Wild got within one at 8:02 of the third on a Matt Baker goal. PG was able to maintain the one-goal edge until the final minute when Wenatchee pulled Anthony Yamnitsky for the extra attacker and it paid off as Chris Jones drifted a long point shot that beat Tavin Grant to tie it with 60 seconds to go.
Wenatchee remained on the offensive and in the dying seconds, AJ Vanderbeck was able to get control of the puck just inside the Spruce Kings blueline and get a shot on net which resulted in a bounce out front that Baker was able to bang into the net for the winner with six seconds to go.
Wenatchee dodges a do-or-die Game 7 scenario after having led the series 3-0 at one point. They move on to Round 2 where they will face the Chilliwack Chiefs in the Mainland Division final.
