Week 9 of the BCHL season is in the books and a few teams remain red hot.

The Surrey Eagles have won five straight games with impressive wins over Victoria, Powell River, and Penticton. This winning streak comes on the heels of losing ten of their previous 11 games. Mike Krgovich has at least a point in all five wins plus one for a six game point streak. The Eagles have a tough November though as they play Powell River and Nanaimo a combined seven times.

The Westside Warriors have points in seven straight games going 6-0-0-1. Captain Ron Kelly has points in six straight games for a total of ten points. The Warriors are 12-1-0-1 when scoring the game's first goal and 2-6-0-1 when they don't.

Keenan Desmet of the Salmon Arm Silverbacks has points in nine straight games for a total of 14 points. The Silverbacks meanwhile have points in 14 straight games going 12-0-1-1.

A couple of players who are on a roll are the Powell River Kings' Darcy Oakes and Kyle Bodie who are on ten game point streaks good for 24 and 19 points respectively. Oakes has points in 23 of his 25 games this season and the only two games were September 13 at Burnaby and October 10th versus Surrey with both games being 5-2 wins for the Kings. Brooks Robinson is on a five game point streak. Assistant coach Shane Lukinchuk talked about his team's nine game winning streak coming to an end against Surrey with Glen Gibbs of the Powell River Peak, “The game we lost,” sighed a tired Lukinchuk, “they didn't beat us, we beat ourselves and that's very uncharacteristic of us.” The full article is here.

Ryan Viselli of the Penticton Vees is on a six game point streak and has points in 13 of his last 15 games after no points in his first five. The Vees are 9-1-0-1 when scoring first and 2-6-0-1 when not scoring the game's first goal. Head Coach and General Manager Fred Harbinson talked about his team's recent roadtrip with Emanuel Sequeira of the Penticton Western News, “I thought we probably should have won all three of them. The 3-2 game against Surrey, we definitely outplayed them after the first period and unfortunately we didn't have enough firepower. Get the big win in Burnaby and I thought we completely outplayed Langley for probably 90 per cent of the game. They got two unfortunate goals in the last minute of the first period. In the second and third the ice was tilted towards their net. If it wasn't for us hitting two crossbars late in the third period we would have got another win.” The rest of the article is here.

16-Year-Old Sahir Gill of the Vernon Vipers has a point in five straight games.

The Nanaimo Clippers are 2-3 in overtime this season where they have won both games in the first overtime period and lost all three in double overtime.

Quote of the Week goes to Trail Smoke Eaters Head Coach and General Manager Jim Ingrim talking to Guy Bertrand of the Trail Daily Times about some recent power-play woes, “If I could have declined that penalty I think I would have,” The complete article is here.
