Haas’ Hub with Patrick Haas

Week 15 of the BCHL season is now in the books and several teams are red hot.

The Salmon Arm Silverbacks have won ten games in a row and are 24-2-1-1 in their last 28 after starting the season 3-5-0-0. Keenan Desmet is on a 11-game point streak good for 16 points. Justin Cseter is on a five-game point streak for a total of eight points. Cseter has points in ten of his last 11 games and 17 points over that time. Mark Zengerle is on a six-game point streak good for 15 points. The 19-Year-Old from Rochester, New York has 20 points in his last nine games and is currently the only player in the league averaging two points per game. Zengerle is in his first BCHL season and will be off to the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin in two years time. The Silverbacks have a league best 18-3-0-0 record on home ice.

The Victoria Grizzlies are on a seven game winning streak and are 14-1-0-2 in their last 17 games after being winless in six games at the end of October. The Grizzlies are the only team in the league to not have a loss in regulation when scoring the game's first goal as they are 20-0-0-2.

The Cowichan Valley Capitals have won six consecutive games after returning home from their Interior Conference road trip in which they won two games and very nearly a third. The Caps are 10-2-0-0 in their last 12 games and have been outshot in ten of their last 11 yet in those contests they are 8-2-0-0. Overall they have a league best 14 wins when being outshot with a 14-11-0-1 mark.

The Westside Warriors have won five straight games after losing three straight contests. Trevor Bailey is on a five-game point streak and is a notable omission from the Interior Conference All-Star squad. The 19-year old from Winfield is already in his third year in the league. Ron Kelly is also on a five game point streak good for eight points after only three points in his previous ten games. The 20-year-old from Lloydminster, Alberta is also in his third year with the team and is having a breakout season as he is only five points shy of last season's 59 game total. Finally Garrett Watson is also on a five-game point streak after having one point in his previous seven games. The 20-year old from Calgary, Alberta is in his second season and is only seven points behind last year's 52 game total. The Warriors have given up the third fewest shots per game on average at 26.7.

Speaking of streaks, Mike Henderson of the Surrey Eagles is on a league high 12-game point streak good for 18 points. Andrew Wallace is on a five-game point streak. The 19-year old Rookie is from Bedford, Nova Scotia and has but two goals compared to his 20 assists. The Eagles also remain hot as they are 9-2-0-1 in their last 12 games. The Eagles are giving up the fifth most shots per game on average at 33.4.

On the opposite end of the spectrum the Nanaimo Clippers are 1-7-0-0 in their last eight games after starting the year 17-7-0-3. The Clips have outshot their opponents in five of their last seven games but have lost all five contests. Overall the Clippers are 8-9-0-3 when outshooting their opponent. Nanaimo has a league high six overtime wins this season as they are 6-3 in a league high nine extra time games.
