Wenatchee Wild forward Sam Hesler has been announced as the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending May 5, the league announce Monday.
Hesler started the week off helping the Wild win Game 3 of the Doyle Cup 4-3 by scoring the game-winning goal and adding an assist. His goal (seen below) helped give the Wild a 3-0 series lead over the Spruce Grove Saints. He went on to add three more assists in the next two games as the Wild would eventually win the series 4-1 after a Game 5 win on May 4.
The 20-year-old from Boxborough, Mass. previously had six points in 19 playoff games before stepping up during the Doyle Cup getting five points in five games (1G, 4A). Hesler is committed to Dartmouth College for the 2018-19 season.
Following Friday night’s win in Spruce Grove, the Wild returned to a roaring crowd of fans at the Town Toyota Centre on Sunday afternoon. The team will now begin prepping for the RBC Cup in Chilliwack which starts on Saturday May 12.
