Interior Conference Friday In Review

It was a busy night in the BCHL's Interior Conference as no less than five games were played in Interior buildings.

In Vernon, the Vipers continued to roll along as they defeated the Victoria Grizzlies 8-2 at the Vernon Multiplex.   Curtis Gedig scored three times to record the hat-trick while Connor Jones led the way in points on the night with a goal and three assists.  Jonathan Milhouse also enjoyed a good point night as he chipped in with a goal and a pair of assists.  Graeme Gordon turned aside 19 of 21 shots in the Vernon goal to pick up the win.

At the South Okanagan events Centre, the Penticton Vees were hosting one of the Coast's top squads and downed the Surrey Eagles 4-1.  The Vees built a 3-0 lead in the first period before trading goals in the second and going scoreless in the third.  Denver Manderson was the big point getter on the evening as picked up three points.  Joel Rumpel was the winner in goal stopping 20 of 21 shots sent his way.

The Merritt Centennials found some scoring in their Christmas stockings as they erupted for 8 goals enroute to an 8-4 win over the Salmon Arm SilverBacks at the Sunwave Centre in Salmon Arm.  Jordan Soquila scored twice and added a pair of assists to pace the Centennials.  Keith Hamilton picked up the win in goal.

The Prince George Spruce Kings were in Westside to take on the Warriors and fell to the hometown side 5-3.  Brendan Ellis scored once and added a pair of assists while Alex Grieve scored twice in the Warrior win.  Kevin Jebson made 24 saves in the Westside goal to record the victory.

The Trail Smoke Eaters started their weekend on the right foot as they scored nine times enroute to a 9-5 victory over the visiting Nanaimo Clippers.  Thomas Abenante led the way for the Smokies as he scored twice and added a single assist.  Kiefer Smiley and Garrett Beckwith combined to make 31 stops in the Trail goal.
